This year was a huge milestone for NZPICS as they celebrated 41 years as the premier supply chain education provider in New Zealand. Abel Software was proud to sponsor their 41st Anniversary Conference, held in June 2021 in Auckland, after last year’s 40th anniversary celebrations were cancelled due to COVID-19.
COVID-19 has meant that the world has had to conduct business differently, with a more agile approach to decision-making and much more forward planning due to shipping and logistics challenges. Subjects discussed at the conference included how COVID-19 has disrupted business models, with some businesses adversely affected and others flourishing.
A range of professionals with an interest in Supply Chain principles were in attendance including Fonterra, Xelocity and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare.
Guest speakers included Abe Eshkenazi, CEO of the US-based Association for Supply Chain Management (previously APICS), who provided an insightful address “Leading into the Future together” and Sean Culey, award-winning speaker and advisor on supply chain transformation and disruptive technologies, who talked about his new book “Transition Point: From Steam to the Singularity”.
We also heard from NZ Health Partnerships’ Rod Treadwell (GM Procurement) & Hayley Greatwood (GM Strategic Partnerships) on the challenges they faced through the pandemic. The work done behind the scenes during Australia and New Zealand’s COVID response to ensure that there were enough supplies made for an interesting presentation.
