It’s been a huge year for us here at Abel. We’ve been so busy it feels like everything has doubled and in some ways it has!
This year we’ve welcomed many new customers including:
- Shott Beverages manufactures premium beverage concentrates for a global market
- Dairy Technology Services provides milk vats, dairy refrigeration and automation systems.

- Hemp Farm grows hemp and produces a range of products utilizing the whole plant
We’ve also undertaken some major transformation projects with our existing customers, helping them to automate more of their processes. Some examples are:
- Outgoing Container Management to streamline the Distribution and Supply workflow
- MPI manufacturing and export EDIs for an auditable MPI documentation process
- Abel’s Warehouse App with real-time interface to Abel ERP improves efficiency in the warehouse

Plant News from Callum Baird
In April our Abel ERP team released Abel 6.1. which incorporated a new table architecture to further improve usability, flexibility and performance of our tables. We released a number of enhancements this year including specialized functionality for Equipment Management, Merchant funding and Customer Owned Stock. We’ve also extended the functionality in MRP, Batch tracking, Country of Eligibility, Outgoing Container Management, EDIs and a host of other stuff.
A custom mobile app that we’ve been building for Alsco was rolled out to Australia, NZ and Singapore and is currently being piloted in the US. In July Callum and Tim attended the Alsco’s worldwide conference in Salt Lake City. The hot topics this year were Cyber Security, Data Warehousing / BI and Abel Mobile.
The Abel mobile development framework has been built to interface directly with the Abel back end so users can be confident the data being displayed on their device is current. And we’ve designed the architecture so customer specific functionality can be developed and seamlessly integrated into the out of the box functionality – just like the desktop version!
We’ve had four new people join the team this year (Thomas, Shaw, Christine and Nicky) which has been great for bringing new skills and ideas to the table. We‘re always open to ideas to improve our products and processes. As the saying goes.. you don’t know what you don’t know!
We’ve had a challenging year and look forward to the challenges and good times that 2020 “will” bring.
In October we completed the move to our new building in Rosedale on Auckland’s North Shore. This brings our Auckland based Abel team together. We’re delighted with our new space, it’s so much easier for everyone to work together. We also have plenty of space for customer training, workshops and video conferencing.
We’ve welcomed several new staff to our development, support and technical communication teams this year. They’re all making a great contribution to Abel’s products, implementation, delivery and also to our customer service.
