SPS Commerce provides an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) service that enables businesses to exchange documents electronically in a standard format. For example, buyers can send purchase orders to sellers digitally via EDI.
The SPS Commerce EDI service reduces the manual tasks involved in document handling, making it more efficient and making business processes more streamlined. The automation that EDI provides also enables businesses to scale – managing high volumes of documents with larger trading partners or enabling business expansion both locally and globally.

We’ve worked with SPS Commerce to implement EDI services both locally and worldwide:
- We’ve developed EDI’s for trading with other businesses, receiving Purchase Orders and sending Shipping Notices and Invoices from Abel to other parties via SPS Commerce.
- We’ve also developed EDI’s to support third-party logistics functions – managing stock transactions and dispatch functions between Abel and 3PL providers in other cities or countries via SPS Commerce.
Every business is different and there is often some development work required each time we implement EDIs for a new Abel implementation. However, the standard message formats provided by SPS Commerce makes the development work significantly simpler compared with developing bespoke EDIs directly with other businesses.
