The Navigator in Abel Version 7 is designed to bring relevant functions and actions into view as you work, helping you access what you need where you need it. Located on the left side of the screen, the Navigator includes five tabs, each supporting everyday efficiency and usability.
This blog focuses on Tab 1, which provides function and navigation buttons relevant to the screen you are currently working in.
Context‑aware navigation
This tab brings together relevant buttons for the current screen. Function buttons carry out actions or open popup screens. Navigation buttons let you jump directly to other Abel screens — the > symbol identifies these shortcuts. The buttons shown vary, with commonly used functions configured specifically for each screen.
See where data exists
For commonly used functions, a red dot indicates that data is present on that screen. The indicator makes it easy to identify screens that contain data, without needing to open each one.
Search instead of scrolling
At the bottom of this tab is a search field. Start typing and Abel filters the buttons to match your search phrase — for example, typing Stock finds all stock‑related buttons. Clear the search to restore the full set of buttons.
Minimise and restore as needed
You can minimise the Navigator using the arrow (<) in the title bar to create more workspace. When minimised, the panel collapses to icons, which remain usable. Click the arrow (>) to restore the full view.
The Navigator Footer
The footer appears on every Navigator tab and screen, showing basic context such as the current form and last update details, along with quick access to Sign Out and Print Screen. When the Navigator is minimised, Print Screen and Sign Out remain available as icons.
Top tip: Navigator search
The Navigator search in Version 7 provides a quick way to find the button you need without scrolling. Try it and see how helpful a simple feature can be.
