Abel can interface with both Shopify and WooCommerce websites. This article outlines Abel’s capabilities and typical processes for processing website orders. Note that some features depend on the plans or options you’ve chosen with your website provider.
Abel’s website interfaces can support both Retail (B2B) and Trade (B2C) workflows. The workflow includes receiving orders, processing despatches and (for trade websites) processing invoices as well.
Web Sale Process – Retail
For Retail customers, the interface typically captures the web order, customers details and payment. The tender process is normally handled by the website. Retail website orders then come through to Abel as a Website Cash Sale.
Individual retail customers are not normally set up in Abel. Instead, there is usually one generic retail “cash sale” customer at the Abel end. However, on your website, you can optionally have accounts for retail customers if required.
Orders are fulfilled in Abel using the standard Abel despatch process.
Web Sale Process – Trade / Wholesale / B2B
Trade customers normally log on to the trade area of your website. Abel detects inbound trade orders and processes them as Website Customer Orders for the corresponding Abel customer (rather than as a Website cash sale, which is used for the retail case).
Website Customer Orders complete their lifecycle (despatch, invoice and payment) using existing standard Abel processes and settings.
Shipping and Fulfillment
Orders are fulfilled in Abel using the standard Abel despatch process.
Abel has a Despatch Notification extract that runs on a timer for updating Shopify.
Inventory, Pricing and Stock on Hand
Inventory items are maintained on the Website to match Abel.
Abel can handle both retail and wholesale pricing. Abel’s Customer Orders and Customer Invoices will use the prices passed to Abel from the website. The pricing capabilities of the website will depend on the plan you have chosen with your website provider. (Some pricing features require premium plans). For stock on hand, the available quantity for inventory can be updated on the website periodically by Abel.
